Frank Acosta (guitar and vocals) brings incredible energy and spirit to BeaufunK. Early in his career, Frank was selected to tour with The Sheila E Band and began rehearsals. Unfortunately, the tour was subsequently cancelled. Frank went on to become a sought-after studio musician, sound engineer, and producer, and has worked with many Bay Area artists. In 2011, Frank scored several songs for The Disney Channel's program “Choo Choo Soul.”  Frank is also a gifted composer. Frank’s original CD of jazz-rock fusion, “Infinite Horizon” was released in 2009 with his band, the Frank Acosta Trio, and is still available.

Wilson Brooks (drums and vocals) has played with groups and artists such as the Gospel Hummingbirds, Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Tony Lindsay, and Sista Monica.  He has shared the stage with the likes of Stanley Clark, Rance Allen, Billy Preston, B.B. King, and The Clark Sisters.  "Wilson is one of the most skilled and spirited drummers with which I have ever worked," says bassist Timm Walker.

Lorenzo Hawkins (keyboards) has his roots in gospel, R&B and funk.  For more than 30 years, his name has been synonymous with the highest level of keyboard performance in The Bay Area and beyond. Lorenzo has performed and recorded with world renown musicians including Luther Ingram, Lenny Williams, and Dwayne Wiggins, as well as the incredible Hawkins gospel family.

Jim Peterson (sax and vocals), has been playing, recording, composing, arranging and teaching music in the Bay Area for more than 25 years. His versatile playing style makes him a sought-after musician and he’s performed and toured internationally with several popular Bay Area bands including Mumbo Gumbo, Steve Lucky, Mitch Woods and others. Since 1996, Jim has been teaching music at Big Bear School of American Music at Fort Mason. He was voted teacher of the year at the school in 2009 and serves on the Board of Directors as the teacher representative.

Timm Walker (bass and vocals) is the founding member of BeaufunK.  Timm is the creative visionary responsible for this potent blending of New Orleans and Oakland funk styles that gives BeaufunK their unique sound.  He is BeaufunK’s primary songwriter, and also produced and engineered their two CDs, "Change Gone Come Fa Betta" and "Blues in My FunK." His performance and recording credits includes work with JJ Malone, Zigaboo Modeliste, Sista Monica, Kenny Neal, and many others. He is an original member of the Bay Area's popular Zydeco Flames, with which he composed many of their songs, as well as produced and engineered two of their most popular CDs.  He was a member of The Elvin Bishop Band for four years. Timm is also an Assistant Professor at both San Francisco State's Music Recording Industry Program, and at Contra Costa College, teaching music recording and beginning music.

And when the music began, they both were transformed by the spirit and energy of the funk they heard. "It was rejuvenating and captivating. At the same time it was a little saddening because I was hearing the music of my roots but had no present project that allowed me to really funk!”, says bass player Timm Walker. "It was fun running into my buddy Skerik (who was playing sax for Ivan) and hangin’ out with Dumpstaphunk. It just felt like coming home. I knew it would have a profound effect on my thinking," says Walker.  Since inception in 2007, the unit has now settled into a line-up of funk extremists - Frank Acosta (guitar), Wilson Brooks (drums), Lorenzo Hawkins (keys), Jim Peterson (sax), Timm Walker (bass), and the latest addition, Michael Jeffries (lead singer - formerly of Tower of Power).  The resumes of the above members are impressive to say the least, but the sound they have created together is one that is sure to bring crowds to their feet and out on the dance floor.
It was in the basement artist dressing room of B.B. Kings Blues Lounge in New York City that the sap of this project began seeping out into the universe. Founding members Timm Walker and Ian Lamson, after yet another memorable performance as members of the Elvin Bishop Band, were both mesmerized by the energy and anticipation by a now completely different audience to see the upcoming act, Ivan Neville.
